Trends in State Level Energy Markets and Policy presented by ENVOY Public Labs
December 1, 2020
Purpose: Since the summer of 2018, GAIN has conducted targeted outreach to key stakeholders in energy planning and policy at the state and local level in six Western US states: Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, North Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming. Envoy Public Labs was the engine behind this direct outreach with the states. The states examined have revealed emerging subnational factors and trends that will impact deployment of advanced nuclear technologies in this decade and beyond. GAIN hosted a webinar on December 1st to brief AR developers and other important stakeholders in advanced reactors on EPL's findings to-date and on-going work. The webinar highlighted broader trends developing in energy markets and policy in the Western US, as well as factors driving change in aggressively decarbonizing states (e.g. Colorado, Washington), fossil-fuel dependent states (e.g. North Dakota, Wyoming), and states with unique governing situations (e.g. Arizona, Minnesota).

Clean Nuclear Energy for Industry - Part 3: The Case for SMRs and Microreactors in Puerto Rico
June 18, 2020, 11:00 a.m. (MDT) / 12:00 p.m. (CT)
Objective: The GAIN Clean Nuclear Energy for Industry Webinar Series highlights the innovations in nuclear energy and associated integrated-energy options that may be beneficial to a wide range of industrial energy applications. The intent is to develop connections between the nuclear community and the energy end-use community to communicate the benefits of clean, reliable, and resilient nuclear energy.

The third webinar in this series is co-sponsored by ANS Young Members Group and features the feasibility study led by The Nuclear Alternative Project (NAP), a non-profit formed by Puerto Rican engineers in the U.S. nuclear industry and involved a team of more than 20 consultants and industry advisors.  This study, highlighting SMRS and Microreactors for Puerto Rico, represents a first-of-a-kind collaborative effort focused on the need for next-generation nuclear reactors in response to Puerto Rico's House Resolution 1189.  In this webinar, Eddie Guerra, Luis Reyes, and Ivan Lugo will present the study's key findings with a special focus on applications for Puerto Rico's manufacturing sector and critical infrastructure needs.
