Regulatory Affairs Interface

Jim Kinsey serves as the regulatory affairs interface for GAIN. In this role, he works closely with industry stakeholders and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to identify and align available regulatory resources with industry needs in support of the near-term commercial deployment of advanced nuclear technologies. In addition, at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), he is responsible for regulatory licensing strategy development and implementation.

Jim has over 40 years of experience in the nuclear industry, including extensive commercial experience in licensing, regulatory affairs, system engineering and major project management. He has managed numerous industry licensing and regulatory affairs projects, including the licensing of GE-Hitachi’s Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor advanced design. He also has considerable experience in daily commercial nuclear facility operation, including system engineering management of safety system performance, plant power uprate projects and outage management. He has served as a primary utility interface with both federal and state regulators. Jim lives in South Carolina.
