Legacy Document Release Process Webinar

March 8, 2023, 9:00am MST

The GAIN Legacy Document effort was initiated in 2016, after the advanced nuclear industry identified access to legacy documents as one of its top four, cross-cutting needs critical to the commercialization of advanced reactor technologies.

Legacy Documents, as the name suggests, are the recorded legacy of over 70 years of nuclear research performed within the DOE Laboratory Complex. GAIN works with industry to identify data or documents that they need. From there, GAIN tailors the approach to locate the documents and share them with industry. This may involve scanning hard copies, updating information security (e.g., export control) reviews, collaborating with the document owner, etc.

Information from decades of past nuclear research is extremely valuable because the programs and facilities that generated the original data no longer exist. By leveraging this information in its current initiatives, the nuclear industry will power the future by shortening development life cycles and reducing costs.

The purpose of the webinar is to update attendees on the available nuclear technology databases and review the newly approved GAIN Legacy Document Release Process.
