Granholm Confirmed as Energy Secretary

February 25, 2021

The Senate voted today to confirm Jennifer Granholm as energy secretary. The following statement can be attributed to Maria Korsnick, president and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute:

“We applaud the Senate’s confirmation of Jennifer Granholm as secretary of energy. In this new role, Secretary Granholm will play a pivotal role in furthering President Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ agenda through climate-focused programs essential to deploying more carbon-free technologies, clean energy job creation and a fully decarbonized economy.  We look forward to working with the incoming energy secretary to continue our progress towards securing a carbon-free future for America, which includes and appropriately values nuclear energy, alongside other carbon-free energy sources.”
