Donna Kemp Spangler

Communications Strategist

Donna Kemp Spangler is the communications strategist for GAIN. She provides strategic communications that promote an understanding of GAIN’s role and mission through various public platforms, including social media and stakeholder engagement. She is also GAIN’s primary media contact.

Prior to working for GAIN, Donna served 15 years as the public information officer and communications director for the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, where she worked closely with the governor and state legislature on communicating environmental policies to the media.

Previously, Donna worked for 20 years as a journalist, winning several national and local awards for her coverage on environmental issues for various newspapers across the west. In 2005, she wrote about nuclear waste issues for a Washington, D.C., trade publication. She is the co-author of two award-winning books with her archaeologist husband.

She holds a B.A. in communications from the University of Portland in Oregon.
