WHAT IS A CRADA?

A Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, or a CRADA, is a written agreement between a federal laboratory and an industry partner to collaborate on a project. Typically, at a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) lab, this project is an R&D project. A CRADA is one of the chief agreement mechanisms used by DOE and other federal laboratories to engage in collaborative efforts with non-federal partners to achieve goals of technology transfer.
