Like any industry, the regulatory landscape can bring about uncertainties, as well as associated schedule, technical and financial risks, to nuclear developers’ deployment strategies. At GAIN, we work to help the industry identify and address these issues. If you’d like more information how GAIN can support your regulatory needs, contact Jim Kinsey, Regulatory Affairs Interface, at [email protected] or at 208-569-6751.

HOW DOES GAIN FACILITATE REGULATORY CHANGE?

The continuous review and evaluation of regulations, in any industry, ensure they remain effective while addressing any deficiencies that negatively affect the innovative process from research to commercialization. GAIN engages in a variety of activities — with industry and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) — to institute regulatory reforms that benefit everyone.

We do this by maintaining close connections with industry stakeholders to understand their needs, while regularly engaging with the NRC through public meetings, correspondence, and workshops, among other things.

We also Engage with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) through GAIN and other DOE-funded programs — e.g., the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program’s Regulatory Framework Modernization effort — to assist in defining, prioritizing, and funding or addressing the nuclear industry’s needs.
